By Ellen laBruce - They’re dusting off the margarita bar, tuning their guitars, trying out tasty recipes and shining their boots. Noche recreates a night in a Mexican village, complete with mariachis, margaritas, and delicious food prepared by Karen Taylor and the staff of Primavera. The proceeds from the dinner and live auction go to support La Luz Center, a non-profit family help center which provides English and computer classes, job referrals, resource information, and other crucial services to all members of the Sonoma Valley.
La Luz Center’s mission is to build a strong and healthy multi-cultural community in the Sonoma Valley,” said La Luz executive director Ellen LaBruce, “Giving families the information that they need to succeed in the valley strengthens our community and helping children gain access to health care keeps the entire community healthy.
This event is our most important fundraiser and we are lucky to have a great volunteer committee to make it happen.” Event Chair JaMel Perkins promises exciting auction lots including vacation trips, dinners and some surprises, too. It’s definitely not to be missed. Come join the fiesta!”
The festivities start at 5pm on September 30th, 2006 at the Sonoma Barracks on East Spain Street. Live auction begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are $95 and must be purchased in advance from the La Luz Center office by calling 938-5131.
