The production of the play "PASTA" – written and directed by Chilean José Díaz Cofré – marks the anniversary of the military coup in Chile on September 11, 1973, and is the third artistic event in the series 50 Años y Más.

In the play, Elena (Mary Ann Rodgers) returns from exile in Italy to her home in Chile. Elena wants her maid Rita (Tessa Koning-Martinez) to cook Italian pasta, but Rita only has Chilean pasta. Their conflict simmers.

After the staged reading, there will be a conversation with the director and actresses about our experiences as those who have left, stayed, and/or returned.

Tessa Koning-Martinez says about "PASTA," "The themes of 'PASTA' have been and are experienced by so many people, both in Chile in 1973, and now, and always. Many flee from oppression, war, and scarcity, or simply face the challenge of changing life, culture, and heart from one land to another."

Mary Ann Rodgers says, "This play by José Díaz explores the effect of challenging times on refugees and those left behind. 'PASTA' focuses on a detail of daily life and from there reveals a greater truth. I am very grateful for the opportunity to explore the multiple facets of 'PASTA' and the character of Elena."

The production of "PASTA" is a collaboration between La Luz Center, Centro del Poder Popular, and Just Play Productions.
