Ligia Booker: Building a Better Bay Area

The heart and soul of La Luz Center, our Founder, Ligia Booker was featured on the October 7 segment of ABC7’s Allies in Action series. The segment highlighted Booker’s remarkable journey in establishing La Luz, which began in the 1970s when she recognized a hidden need in the community and felt a personal call to action. Under her leadership, La Luz evolved from a small group of people delivering food to those in need to a comprehensive resource for employment, education, and immigration services. Booker emphasized her deep sense of pride in seeing La Luz’s continued growth, and praised the current leadership for carrying on her mission of providing life-changing support to families in need while remaining a beacon of hope in Sonoma Valley.
